The history books shifted with a papery rustle. Out stepped a golden lion wearing tiny round reading glasses. He was enormous, but his worried expression made him seem more lost than frightening.

“Please don’t shout,” the lion whispered. “I’ve misplaced the ending of my favourite story.” Leo looked at the colourful bookmarks around his paws. Dad stood close behind, calm and watchful.

Leo had read about brave explorers, but none had begun an adventure by helping a lion in a library. “Then we’ll help you find it,” Leo said. He opened his blue adventure book, and one page began to glow.
